Faculty positions at Department of Geosciences, National Taiwan University
The Department of Geosciences at NTU is seeking active scientists to fill faculty positions starting from 1st August, 2014. The positions are open to all fields in geosciences, but those who have strong background in the fields of geology (paleontology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, geo-resources, mineralogy and petrology, structural geology), geochemistry, geophysics, and applied geology will receive more favored consideration. Faculty Position in Earth Sciences at National Taiwan Normal University
The Department of Earth Sciences at National Taiwan Normal University invites applications for one faculty position in either Geology or Geophysics starting in the August of 2013. The position is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, but a higher level appointment may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Candidates for the geology position will be considered in the field of metamorphic petrology with expertise using analytical (i.e. ICP-MS or electron microprobe) and modeling techniques. For the geophysics position, applicants with research interests across the full range of disciplines of theoretical and applied geophysics are invited. However, preference will be given to candidates specializing in inverse theory, earthquake engineering, and field methods. Candidates who are capable of multi-disciplinary research with the existing projects in astronomy or oceanography are welcomed. The appointees should have a demonstrated record in research and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching. It is expected that the candidate will have a Ph.D. in Geology or Geophysics at the time of the appointment with preference given to those with post-doctoral experience and whose interests, abilities, and experience benefit our existing programs.

Faculty position in the Department of Oceanography, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, ROC
The Department of Oceanography at the National Sun Yat-sen University is looking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the areas of (not exclusively) satellite oceanography/remote sensing for atmosphere-ocean Interaction/numerical ocean circulation modeling/physical oceanography beginning August 2013. The applicant must hold a Ph.D. in related disciplines with extensive experience in sea-going field work. The rank (from assistant, associate, to full professor) of the appointment will commensurate with experience and accomplishment. This position carries 12-months salary plus 1.5 months of end-of-year bonus at the Chinese New Year. The successful candidate is expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate (master and doctorate levels) courses and to establish his/her own field of research through outside funding.
The department has 20 faculty members. It is recently formed through merging of the existing Institute of Marine Geology and Chemistry and Institute of Marine Biology, and with additional faculty members from fields of physical oceanography and biological oceanography within the college of Marine Science. The existing faculty members have active research programs in the South China Sea, Taiwan Strait, East China Sea, western Pacific Ocean, and coastal waters around Taiwan. The university operates a 250-ton research vessel Ocean Researcher III, which is part of the oceanographic research fleet of Taiwan, ROC.
